Tazua App Brings Digital Creative Opportunities to USIU-Africa Through KFC Partnership

The Commission, in partnership with Tazua Africa, has engaged students at the United States International University-Africa (USIU-Africa) through the Tazua Africa Campus Tour, introducing them to digital tools and opportunities within Kenya’s growing creative economy.

The campus activation provided a practical introduction to the Tazua App, a digital platform that brings together content creation, social commerce and creator monetization. Students explored how to monetize their influence, sell directly to their audiences as merchants, build creator communities and turn their creativity into income.

Through live platform demonstrations, interactive industry conversations and hands-on onboarding, participants were guided on how to download the app, create profiles, publish content and share their work with audiences. The engagement also highlighted the importance of building an online presence, growing audiences and exploring alternative income streams through digital platforms.

A major highlight was the USIU 30-Second Challenge, which invited students to create and share content through the Tazua App. The challenge generated student participation and creative expression, with the day’s winner walking away with a KSh 10,000 cash prize.

The activation formed part of the wider Tazua Africa Campus Tour, which seeks to connect university students, emerging creators and young entrepreneurs to opportunities in the digital creative economy. The initiative recognizes the growing role of digital platforms in creating new pathways for talent discovery, audience engagement, entrepreneurship and income generation.

For the KFC, the partnership provided an opportunity to extend its engagement with young people in tertiary institutions and strengthen awareness of emerging opportunities within the film and wider creative industry. By working with digital platforms and industry partners, the Commission continues to encourage innovation, nurture emerging talent and promote greater participation in Kenya’s creative economy.

The engagement reinforced an important message: creativity can extend beyond content creation to become a source of enterprise and economic opportunity when supported by the right tools, platforms and networks.

The Tazua App remains available to emerging creatives and entrepreneurs looking to showcase their work, grow their audiences and explore digital monetization opportunities.
