Lupita Nyong’o To Narrate New Series ‘Serengeti’

Renowned and award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o alongside fellow Hollywood icon John Boyega, are set to narrate Serengeti – a new natural history series by Discovery Channel and BBC. Lupita Nyong’o will narrate the U.S version while John Boyega will narrate the British version of the series.

The six-part series follows the interconnected stories of a number of savannah animals over one year, bringing to life the challenges and experiences facing some of the Serengeti’s most well-known and iconic species such as warthogs, mongoose, lions and cheetahs in intimate detail making use of innovative filming techniques and drone technology.

The series seeks to capture the drama that unfolds in the daily lives of the wildlife up close highlighting the emotional moments they face at key points in their lives, within their natural habitat.

Sharing her excitement on her role in this new project, Lupita Nyong’o says:

“These beautiful creatures’ stories are universal, and I am honored to help take the audience on their journey.”

While speaking to the press Simon Fuller noted that, “Lupita brings pure magic to Serengeti, her sensitivity and passion for nature shines through in every word she speaks. We are so proud to be working with such an extraordinary artist on this show that means so much to us.”

Participation in this new project by Lupita Nyong’o has clearly demonstrated her prowess and ability to evolve and fit onto different roles in her acting career.

The new series will be directed by Emmy-winning wildlife filmmaker, John Downer and produced by Simon Fuller – the creator of American Idol.

Serengeti will premiere later this year on Discovery Channel and will be distributed internationally by BBC Studios.
