KENYAN STANDS OUT AT THE 7th AFRICA MAGIC VIEWERS’ CHOICE AWARDS NOMINATIONS

Africa Magic yesterday announced nominees in all 28 categories in the 7th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA). The event, hosted by Nollywood’s Linda Ejiofor and Ibrahim Suleiman, was broadcasted live on all Africa Magic channels via DStv and GOtv from 11pm East African Time.

Below is the full list of the Kenya’s nominee:

  • Pascal Tokodi (Disconnect) – Best Supporting Actor in a movie/TV series
  • Walter Odhiambo (Plan B) – Best Lighting Designer in a movie/TV series
  • Willis Abuto & Kevin Abuto (Poker) – Best Sound Editor
  • Sippy Chadha (Subira) – Best Indigenous Language/TV Series (Swahili)
  • Victor Gatonye (Dreamchild) – Best Indigenous Language/TV Series (Swahili)
  • Joan Kabugu (Toy Car) – Best Indigenous Language/TV Series (Swahili)
  • Iman Mueke (Disconnect) – Best Movie East Africa
  • Edijoe Mwaniki (Lost In Time) – Best Movie East Africa
  • Sarah Hassan (Plan B) – Best Movie East Africa
  • Multichoice Talent Factory East Africa (Ensulo) – Multichoice Talent Factory Award
  • Multichoice Talent Factory East Africa (Promises) – Multichoice Talent Factory Award

Since its launch in March 2013, the AMVCAs continues to inspire and celebrate contributions of African filmmakers, actors and industry specialists as they promote the growth of the continent’s film and television industry. For the 7th edition, awards will be presented in 28 categories, with 7 categories open to public voting and 21 being categories to be decided by the AMVCA panel of judges with the inclusion of a new category, The MultiChoice Talent Factory Award.

For the Kenyan nominees, only the Best Supporting Actor category is open for public voting via https://africamagic.dstv.com/show/amvca/vote

According to the Africa Magic Channel Director, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, over 2000 entries were received for this edition, a clear indication of the important role the AMVCAs play in shaping the African film and television narrative.
