KENYA WINS BIG AT THE 2021 EDITION OF ZANZIBAR INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

Kenya Film Commission sponsored a team of six Kenyan filmmakers to attend the 2021 edition of Zanzibar International Film Festival.

This is part of the Commission’s efforts to facilitate Kenyan filmmakers participate in and showcase Kenyan content to the international film markets. Mission To Rescue made a world premiere on 24th July 2021 at the Zanzibar International Film Festival with other Kenyan films such as Dreamchild and Softie screening during the festival.

Mission To Rescue emerged as the Best East African Film with Melvin Alusa bagging the Best Lead Actor with his film Mission To Rescue. Under the special category dubbed the Ousmane Sembene Award, Saitabao Kaiyare and Mumo Liku duo emerged as the winner with their film If Objects Could Speak whilst Softie bagged the Best Documentary.

These wins are a testament and continue to cement Kenya’s prowess on the African continent as a powerhouse in film production.
