At the heart of the Commission is the strategic intention to devolve filmmaking activities to the counties. To advance this agenda, our CEO Mr. Timothy Owase paid a courtesy call to H.E Jackson Mandago – Governor of Uasin Gishu County.
In order to propel screen business, Kenya Film Commission is in the process of forging a partnership with Uasin Gishu County to set up a Film Hub.
Key items of the discussion featured creating a linkage with Uasin Gishu County, collaboration on capacity building initiatives, establishment of a fully furnished Film Hub among other items.
The governor expressed delight in the activities of the Commission as they are aimed at creating wealth and employment opportunities for the youth in the county.
The governor, who is also the chairperson of the North Rift Economic Bloc, has committed to rally all the eight counties in the bloc to embrace filmmaking as an avenue of job creation for the youth in the region.
The governor has committed to zero rate film production activities in Uasin Gishu County to attract investment and promote growth of filmmaking activities in the county.
In an effort to power capacity and mainstream screen business within Counties, the Commission agreed to undertake sensitization to all County Executive Committee Members and Chief Officers of the eight North Rift Counties.
