INAUGURATION OF THE BOARD OF KENYA FILM COMMISSION

The Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, The Arts and Sports Hon. Ababu Namwamba EGH, hosted the new members of the Board of Kenya Film Commission on Monday 18th September 2023 at the Ministry of Youth Affairs, The Arts and Sports Headquarters in Talanta Hela Plaza.

The CS welcomed the new Board encouraging them to help the Commission achieve its mandate of making Kenya a destination of choice.

“I stand before you today with immense pride and gratitude as we inaugurate the new board members of the Kenya Film Commission. This moment signifies a major milestone in our mission to foster the growth and development of the Kenyan film industry” said Mr. Owase as he welcomed the new Board Members.

The CEO appreciated the outgoing board members for their dedication and hard work in advancing Kenya’s film sector saying that their commitment has laid a solid foundation upon which the Commission will continue to build on.

Mr. Owase further added that Kenya Film Commission is poised for an exciting journey ahead and the new board members bring a wealth of experience and passion to this endeavor to elevate the Kenyan film industry to new heights.

He also said that films have the potential to not only entertain but also educate, promote our heritage and drive economic growth and, in the coming years, focus will be on key areas like Supporting Local Talent, Promoting Diversity, Attracting Investments and Showcasing Kenya through strategic marketing and international collaborations.

The new Board Members of Kenya Film Commission are Ms. Ilhaar Taisr, Dr. Lucia Nzoongo, Ms. Catherine Githongori, Dr. Hillary Mulama, Ms. Naomi Gachemba, Mr. Vincent Onyango and Mr. Peter Njoroge.
