The award ceremony held in the Coastal town of Mombasa on 16th December, 2019 marked the grand finale of Cinemadamare Africa Chapter 2019 ending a five – week period of filmmaking in Kenya.
Following a successful launch in Nairobi County, this festival featured intensive filming and screening of short films in Nairobi, Kisumu, Nyandarua, Makueni and Mombasa counties. The festival attracted an overwhelming 200 filmmakers from around the world who converged in Kenya for an amazing filmmaking experience.
The filmmakers had an opportunity to tell stories under the theme “Gains of Devolution” and experience Kenya as the ideal filming destination with world class tourist attraction sites.
Cinemadamare Africa Chapter 2019 – a first in Africa/ Nairobi and in its 17th edition in Italy showcased the beauty of Kenya to the world and reaffirms our slogan ‘Film Kenya, Capture Africa! This festival was also an eye-opener to many counties on the myriad opportunities filmmaking offers in terms of sustainable wealth and job creation for the youth.”
Associazione Culturale Cinemadamare has been hosting the biggest gathering of young filmmakers from all over the world for a film making experience in Italy for the past 16 years. Kenya was honored to host the 17th Edition of Cinemadamare Africa Chapter 2019, the first in Africa through the G-Pay Africa youth.
