Chief Executive Officer of Spielworks Media and renowned film producer Ms. Dorothy Ghettuba has been appointed as Manager for International Originals by the popular video streaming service Netflix.

Ms. Dorothy Ghettuba is set to join Netflix in June 2019, assuming the title of Manager, International Originals for Europe, Middle East and Africa operating from the Dutch city of Amsterdam.

Confirming the appointment, spokesperson from Netflix while talking to BBC affirmed that:

“We are excited to confirm that Dorothy is joining the International Originals group, which produces original series across the world. She will focus on adding shows across countries in Africa to our strong and growing International Originals slate. ”

This appointment comes at a time when Kenyans in the creative sector are making significant moves on the global stage reaffirming Kenya’s prowess in the film industry.

Netflix has recently increased the number of African movies and series on its platform. It is the hope of many that more African productions will now form part of the catalogue for Netflix as the streaming giant expands its reach on the continent.

Dorothy is behind productions such as such as ‘Sumu La Penzi’, ‘Lies That Bind’, ‘Saints’ and ‘Higher Learning’ which air on Kenyan TV stations as well as on continental channels like Africa Magic.
