Nominees list for the 2nd edition of the Mobile Phone Film Competition has been released.
The Mobile Phone Film Competition attracted more youth, not only from Nairobi but other counties such as Nyeri, Kiambu, Kilifi, Meru, Nakuru, Machakos and Rift Valley
It has been noted that the 2nd Edition of My Kenya My Story mobile phone film competition got higher quality submissions compared to the 1st edition. The stories were more daring which is evidence of more confidence by Kenyan film makers from the skills and knowledge acquired from various workshops on filming.
The scripts were well thought out and used diverse literally tools like comedy, flashback and story-in-a-story creatively. The quality of film productions using the same or similar mobile equipment has improved greatly given that the lighting and sound were much better compared to previous entries.
This year’s theme was also well highlighted to bring out societal challenges in mental health and wellness. “The applicants followed the rules more keenly thus there were fewer rejections by the selection committee”, noted Steve Maina, the Head Juror.
