FILM CLUBS IN HIGH SCHOOLS ARE BACK!

The School Outreach Programme is back! On 13th January 2021, the Commission introduced Drama Club students of Highway Secondary School to the business of film. 33 students were enrolled in the first session of the programme that seeks to nurture young talent and expose them, at an early age, to career opportunities in film. The Programme is in partnership with Canon.

Notably, Highway High School is already producing films. Their Drama Festivals Project Bleeding Love was nominated in the 2020 Kalasha Awards.

On Monday, 18th January 2021, two other Film Clubs were launched in Moi Girls High School and Dakabaricha High School, both in Marsabit County, with 49 and 46 students respectively formed the pioneer Clubs. While there, the KFC Team held discussions with the County CEC of Culture who works in the County Education Board and will help steer the agenda across Secondary schools in the region.

The KFC Team also held a meeting with School Patrons from Marsabit Boys and Sakuu High School regarding building their film-production capacity on a Training-Of-Trainers basis. The Patrons will then share the knowledge with their respective schools.
