Kenya Film Commission is currently attending the 39th Durban International Film Festival down in South Africa.The Durban International Film Festival will run from 19th to 29th July 2018. The audience will have a broad range of films to choose from this year with185 shorts, documentaries and feature films from all over the world participating in the festival. Kenyan film Rafiki by Wanuri Kahiu will be one of the only two films selected for the opening and closing of the festival. The selected films will set the stage for DIFF as it continues to celebrate women’s role within the film industry. This will also shed light on African stories that need to be shared with the world.
Four Kenyan films will be competing in the Durban International Film Festival this year. Rafiki directed by Wanuri Kahiu and Supa Modo directed by Likarion Wainaina competing in the Feature films category at the festival. On the other hand, New Moon by Philippa Ndisi-Herrmann and Silas, a collaboration between Canada, S. Africa and Kenya, directed by Anjali Nayar and Hawa Essuman will be competing in the documentary films category.
